What we provide
Our designs are vector drawings that can be customized and converted to many formats. We also offer the design elements as ‘sprites’. These vector drawings can be provided to the printers. We can work with you to provide customized or adjusted final drawings so that the printer is only responsible for the print quality (see “Custom work”). However, in many cases the designer or printer will prefer to handle this themselves.
Available for most designs: .svg, .pdf (vector), .png (raster)
Available on request[1]: .ai, .tiff, .jpg, .ps, .dwg
See more about our Licenses.
At this time we are not a print shop nor do we have a partnership with one. We cannot provide finished wallpaper ready to hang (although we are working on it, contact us if you need this service). We can provide consultation to designers and printers on a time based fee but we cannot guarantee to resolve every problem at any step along the way.
About our designs
Numbering
Our designs are numbered for quick convenience. Most follow this structure: Design No. – Pattern Variant – Color Scheme or ####-###-###. Each type of pattern is a design, but with digital tools there can be many variations made to the design such as scale, spacing, in certain cases repeat geometry, and removal of elements. We offer many designs with standard pattern variants to inspire our customers. Numbered color schemes are those that we offer with explicit colors (Pantone, etc). Customers, designers and their printers can adjust or specify colors after receiving the design, these are not registered in our system. Custom color request from us may be given a color scheme code.
Variant ####-001 is usually the original design spacing with all elements. The color scheme ####-001-002 is usually an approximation of the original color scheme. ####-001-001 is what we call a ‘toned’ file with each group of designs elements either a different shade of grey or multi colored. This is so designers can tell which elements can be colored separately without editing the design elements. Many designs used fewer colors than design elements, so color schemes can be more complex than the original.
Why Vectors?
The main reason is that they are infinitely editable. Vector designs always produce clean sharp lines. They are adaptable to more than just ink printing, they can be used with screen-printing, cutters, stencils, laser cutters and even CNCs to carve custom panels or machine cut print blocks.
Custom work
We offer several types of custom work.
Alteration of designs (minor)
If you would like a custom variant or color scheme, we can modify existing designs. Most often this a change of the spacing or size of the design, or the removal of an unwanted feature.
Alteration of designs (major)
Mixing design elements, redrawing elements or custom enhancements (like ‘aging’ or ‘imperfecting’) can be ordered. These can vary in complication and will require some consultation to meet the client’s needs.
Custom reproductions
If you have a design you would like reproduced we may be able to help. If a clean, full repeat example is available we can digitize and re-draw it for you. Charges vary greatly due to complexity, availability and quality of original.
All designs we make are original work which we reserve the rights to and the client is offered a license if in good financial standing with us. These designs may be offered for later sale to the public by us. ‘Work for hire’ designs will be considered and must be explicitly arranged in advance.
Typically we will only reproduce designs that are in the public domain. Occasionally, if proof is provided we will reproduce designs that are only out-of-copyright in the U.S.A. Just because a paper is out-of-print does not mean the copyright is expired. We reserve the right to refuse to work on a design for any reason.
Custom designs
Completely custom designs will be considered, however can be very time consuming to get to match the customer’s vision. Please inquire well in advanced so we can gauge the scope of the project. Please see ‘Custom reproductions” for additional information.
